I just flew out to a computer conference in Canada, and as we landed our chatty flight attendant had this to say:
In 1979, an American embassy in a Middle East country was taken over. The Americans on the street went to the Canadian embassy and were taken in. They were given Canadian passports and a flight back to America. We Americans remember this, and we are thankful.
I always get worried when someone on stage brings up political issues. I know too many people who are not only willing to get into brawls, but eager to, so I'd rather not be around when someone stokes those flames. Sometimes, though, people like this flight attendant remind us to try and get along.
